On April 8th and 10th, TORNADO’s HUA team proudly took part in the Epilego Charokopio 2025 public event, organized by the Career Office of Harokopio University of Athens (HUA).
This dynamic outreach initiative welcomed secondary school students to the university’s campus, offering them a firsthand look at academic life, research opportunities, and career paths in cutting-edge fields.
Representing both the Ceasefire Project and the TORNADO EU Project, our team contributed to the event by showcasing ongoing research in artificial intelligence and computer vision.
At our booth, students had the opportunity to engage with interactive demos and learn about advanced AI applications, including:
-
Object detection
-
Image classification
-
Inference using foundation models
These demonstrations sparked great curiosity among attendees and provided a tangible glimpse into the power and potential of AI.
Several students expressed keen interest in the technologies presented, an encouraging sign that the next generation of researchers is already taking shape.
Special thanks go to Jorgen C., Aggelos Psiris, Despina Ioanna Chalkiadaki, and Xristos Filippidis, who organized the presentations and represented our team!
Their dedication helped bring complex technologies to life in a relatable and inspiring way.
Participating in events like Epilego Charokopio reflects TORNADO’s commitment to open science, public engagement, and building a strong pipeline of talent for the future of AI and data science in Europe.
