The San Raffaele Group operates in the field of hospital services and holds a prominent position in the field of health care, scientific research and medical assistance, whose mission is to guarantee an integrated assistance network of high quality and specialisation.
Over the years, San Raffaele has been able to translate the concept of health care into true standards of excellence by creating a network of healthcare facilities nationwide, whose core is represented by the IRCCS San Raffaele.
The integrated care network ranges from rehabilitation to post-acute long-term medical care; palliative care, and residential or home-based hospice care, with an important focus on cardiovascular, respiratory, neurodegenerative diseases and developmental disabilities.
As research is one of IRCCS San Raffaele founding principles, the institute performs an intense and qualified research activity thanks to the support of a modern Research Centre, a Clinical Trial Centre and an advanced Biological Resources Center (BioBIM – Interinstitutional Multidisciplinary Biobank). Research activities, coordinated by a Central Scientific Management, are guaranteed by the presence of highly specialised multidisciplinary team, in which biomedical researchers jointly work with experts specialised in the areas of ICT, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, eHealth, economics and health management. San Raffaele Cassino (SRC), an integral part of the IRCCS, will serve as a reference centre in the validation phase of the TORNADO project, in which a use case will be conducted to showcase the strategic improvement and user acceptance of a social robot deployed for “making rounds” in a highly people-centric environment like an hospital’s palliative care ward.
